ABOUT US
Emery Remodeling, founded in 1981, by Joseph Emery and Martina Hainke is a custom remodeling and restoration company. Joe grew up in Shaker Heights, excelled in his high school woodworking shop, and worked with his father on their older home, as well as an historic summer home owned by the family built in 1820. He also worked at a local antiques shop restoring furniture as a high school student. Joe built on these interests when starting their company. Martina was born in, and has travelled extensively in Europe, and brings her sense of style, architecture and original materials to every project.
We serve a clientele which is based primarily in Shaker Heights and Cleveland Heights, although our work has taken us to Bratenahl, Gates Mills, the Upper Campus of Hawken School in Geauga County, and elsewhere.
We specialize in custom, one of a kind projects, primarily kitchens, master suites and bathrooms. Other projects have encompassed entire homes including studies and libraries, living and dining rooms, basements and third floors. We also do interior and exterior renovation and restoration of older and modern homes, and have built period additions and garages.
We have had the privilege to do preservation work on the oldest part, the stagecoach porch, of the historic Dunham Tavern, the oldest structure in Cleveland.
In 2001, customers Stewart and Donna Kohl were awarded the Shaker Heights Landmark Commission Award, for preservation work at their residence, built in 1905, which we are proud to have done for them.
In 2006 we did a complete interior and exterior renovation of the historic Don Hisaka house, built in 1967 and awarded an AIA Honor in 1970. Located in Shaker Heights, it is considered one of the most significant modern homes in Ohio.
We have remodeled and restored several suites in the historic Moreland Courts Condominiums, built by the Van Sweringen Brothers, working with the in-house architectural board to keep and maintain the original look of these grand apartments.
Also, we have worked extensively in the Fairmount Boulevard and Ambler Road Historic districts, having done work on the fine period homes found there.
We consult with homeowners, architects, and designers to find and expertly install period materials for their homes; from stone, brick, mortar and tiles, to flooring, moldings, cabinets, hardware, and light fixtures.
What is important to us as well, are the environmental and technological advances that have been made over the last years. We use the newest green products and ideas including LED lighting, water conservation, low or no VOC containing insulating foams and paints. We strive to be environmentally conscious and recycle our waste as far as possible. Also, keeping your personal environment clean, odor and dust free during the project, is a priority of ours.
